iPhone 6 Lock Button/Power Button Repair
The lock/power button on the iPhone 6 is used for turning on the device, turning it off, and taking screenshots. Since it is used so frequently, it can get worn out, and you find yourself needing to repair it in order to keep using your phone normally. Without it, you might as well use your phone as a paperweight, especially once the battery runs out and you are unable to turn the phone on without plugging it into a computer.
At this point, you have two options: take it to a repair center, or turn on Assistive Touch. If you can’t get your phone to a repair shop right away, Assistive Touch will allow you to keep using it in the meantime. On the iPhone 6, tap Settings > General > Accessibility. Then scroll down to Assistive Touch and turn it on. This puts a round gray button on the screen. When you tap it, it brings up a menu. In order to turn off you device, go to Device and tap and hold Lock Screen. If you want to take a screenshot, then you go to Device > More, and tap Screenshot.
While this does allow you to use your phone while the lock button is awaiting repairs, it can be quite a hassle.
